Not only the tiles design or color that you need to concern but there also some other elements that you need to be focus on when choosing tile too. Here are some of the tips from Mariwasa about how to choosing and buying ceramic tiles.
Before buying Ceramic tiles, Don’t forget to focus on water marks. It should not be visible in the glaze surface. Tile with water marks only suggests that it absorbs high percentage of water, However It usually takes some time before the tile goes back to its original shade. So it better to test it before you buy.
2. Straight, not bent
Ceramic tiles must have sufficient bending strength to withstand constant pressure or sudden impact. You can test it with simple technique, a durable tile must not be broken even with bare hands.
3. low water absorption.
Ceramic tiles must have low water absorption. High water absorption will make the tile fragile. Water Absorption for floor tile should not exceed 10% as prescribed under PNS ISO 13006:2007.
4. No permanent marks.
Tiles must not absorb or leave permanent marks from common household stains like coffee, oil, catsup, soy sauce or even methlylene blue or ink.
5. No chipped
Glaze on the coating on top should not be chipped when tiles are cut or scratched.
